  • Previous Academic Role:
    • Former Professor at the School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
    • Served as the Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University.
  • Research and Publications:
    • Published over 275 papers in international journals.
    • Authored approximately 60 book chapters.
    • Edited 14 books.
  • Fellowship and Honors:
    • Fellow of all four National Science Academies in India.
    • Member of The World Academy of Sciences, Trieste, Italy.
    • Recipient of the National Civilian Award, Padma Shri.
    • S.S Bhatnagar Award from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
    • Birbal Sahni Medal from the Botanical Society of India.
    • Lifetime Achievement Awards from various organizations, including the Indian National Science Congress, PHSS Foundation, Biotechnology Research Society of India, and Society for Ethnopharmacology.
    • First Indian to receive the Corresponding Membership Award from the American Society of Plant Biologists.

  • Professor Himanshu Rai serves as the Director of IIM Indore.
  • He previously held positions as the Dean of SDA Bocconi India campus and a Professor at SDA Bocconi, Milan.He has taught at IIM Lucknow and XLRI.
  • Prior to his academic career, he worked for over 8 years at Tata Steel, where he contributed significantly to Quality Systems and the Communication Policy.
  • Professor Rai authored the bestselling book “Negotiation” and delivered a TEDx talk on “Ethical Leadership: Lessons from the Vedas.”His latest book, “Organizational Behavior,” is co-authored with Steven McShane and Mary Ann Von Glinow.
  • He is a member of the high-powered advisory committee on Indian Knowledge System (IKS) of the Ministry of Education and the Vision@2047 committee of the Government of India.
  • LinkedIn has recognized him as one of the 25 most influencing voices from India.
